Visitors marvel at frozen cascade of Plitvice waterfall
The famous Croatian waterfall Plitvice froze on March 1 as it dropped to 5° F in parts of the country.
According to local media, it's been decades since the big waterfall completely froze.
Extreme temperatures brought by the Siberian cold spell covered Croatia in deep snow and ice.
But none of that stopped British tourists from visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park.
SOUNDBITE (English) Lewis Reed; tourist from Bristol, UK:
"Yeah, it's freezing. It's freezing cold, gloves on and everything. Gloves are not thick enough. On my feet, I've got a lots of socks on, and it's not warm enough. Five layers on, three trousers on and I'm still cold. But it's really nice, it's really nice around here."
Reed said that despite being cold, he was happy he came.
