South Korea's "Garlic Girls" curlers spawn viral tributes online

This is an imitation of South Korea’s female Olympic curling team.

The team, named the "Garlic Girls” after their hometown, have become an overnight internet sensation. So far, they are 6-1 at the Pyeongchang Games.

Their fairytale run is being celebrated on social media. Fans have posted memes and parody videos with mops and robot vacuum cleaners.

The team has become the first Korean rink to reach the Olympic semifinals after beating the United States 9-6 on Feb. 20.

Team member Kim Yeong-mi said they were clueless about their newfound fame since they turned off their phones to avoid distractions.

The Finnish snowboard team at the Olympics in Pyeongchang are using the soothing effects of knitting when the Olympic pressure becomes too great.

"It's a really Finnish thing to do, so you don't need to talk to anyone while doing it,” snowboard coach Antti Koskinen said.

"It takes all your concentration and effort, and then people realize you're actually doing something important because you're concentrating so hard, so no unnecessary chitchat needed."

Grinning as he continued to knit a blue woolen square, Koskinen said that around half of the 102-strong team is knitting at the games.

A firefighter in Decatur, Georgia, and his wife were treated to an unorthodox baby gender reveal on Saturday, February 10, when they held a water hose to reveal the big news.

The department staged the special gender reveal for the couple, using a firehose and buckets filled with both blue and pink water.

A clip shared to the City of Decatur Fire and Rescue YouTube account on February 10 shows the couple embracing while they held the firehouse. Moments later, bright pink water shot into the air, much to the delight on onlookers.

Madame Tussauds in London has unveiled a treat for Valentine's Day: a waxwork of hearthrob Tom Hardy with a 'heartbeat' and a warm torso.
The English actor's wax figure has a heartbeat of 60 reps per minute and a core temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. Fans can nestle on a leather sofa with the star and pose for photos.
Some canine fans also took part in a photo opportunity with Hardy, who's well-known as a dog lover.
Several of the dogs came from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, a rescue charity close to Hardy's heart.
Hardy starred in "Dunkirk," "Mad Max" and "The Revenant," for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

Pedestrians in Basra, Iraq, got quite a shock this morning: A huge bear lumbering across the street. The animal had escaped from a shop where it was being held for sale, according to local news reports.
Onlookers captured footage of the Syrian brown bear ambling through crowded streets of the Persian Gulf port city before it was captured and returned to the shop.
The bear was safely captured and returned to the shop.

Strong and shallow earthquakes struck off Taiwan's east coast near Hualien County on Sunday night.
A driver's dashboard camera caught several rocks falling from the mountain and crashing on the road.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude-6.1 quake's epicentre was 14 kilometres (9 miles) northeast of the city of Hualien, at a depth of just 7.8 kilometres (4.9 miles).
