Some basketball players in Louisiana stopped a game and kneeled as a funeral procession went by.

The situation took place on April 20 in the town of Denham Springs.

Lynn Bienvenu was part of the procession, as she was attending the funeral of her cousin.

The basketball players noticed the procession go by and knelt until it passed, Bienvenu said.

Lynn Bienvenu: "They took a knee not out of disrespect, but out of honor. There was not an adult in sight to tell them to stop playing. This meant a great deal to our family. May God bless each one as I feel they will achieve greatness."

The picture has gone viral on social media.

Bienvenu later tagged all of the boys and thanked them.

Officer David Renteria of the Jackson Police Department in Michigan could not contain his emotion as he made his final call, concluding the last shift of a 25-year career on Sunday, April 22.

On hand was Renteria’s son Austin, a reserve officer with the Jackson PD, to record the moment as his father finished up.

Renteria paid tribute to the “brothers and sisters in uniform” he has worked with over that time, his voice shaking.

“It’s been an incredible honor,” he said. “The way you handle yourselves in your communities professionally in face of all the criticism and attacks on law enforcement is inspirational. Keep up the good work. And to the citizens of Jackson community at large: It has been my pleasure to serve you and I hope I’ve done so in an honest, fair, and impartial manner. And rest assured that my comrades still working will do everything in their power to keep you save.”
